What is Soda Blasting?

Soda blasting ia a paint stripping and cleaning technology that propels granular sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) blast media via compressed air onto the area to be cleaned.  This process removes paint and contaminates without harming the underlying surface.  The blast material is a non-toxic, non-hazardous, food grade material that is 100% water soluble and environmentally friendly.

Soda blasting is similar in concept to sand blasting.  The difference between the two processes is that blasting soda is an extremely
friable material that has micro fragmentation on impact, literally exploding away surface materials without damage to the substrate, where as, sand blasting removes coatings by essentially "hammering" the coating off of the surface and in the process also damages the surface that the coating is being removed from.

Soda blasting can eliminate the need for toxic chemicals, scraping, sanding or hard abrasive blasting.  Soda blast media is FDA approved and contains no free silica.  It is non-sparking, non-flammable, and environmentally safe.

Soda blasting can remove old paint, body filler and seam sealer without warping sheet metal.  It will not harm glass, chrome or rubber.

Soda Blasting can remove years of old paint from masonry with out destroying the brick, block or stone that lie beneath.  Its also great for cleaning mortar joints prior to re-pointing.

Soda Blasting will remove your boat bottom paint without tearing up the gel coat that is so important to the integrity of your hull.
